Title: Obituary of C.A. Williams
Date: d. 15 October 1891, 26 yrs
Locality: Dover Twp, MI
Curator: Christine Fisher
Detail:

Died: October 15, 1891, at the residence of his father C. R. Williams, of Dover township, Mich., C.A. Williams, in the 26th year of his age. Funeral services were held at the Dover town hall, Oct. 18, undertaker Paine of Luther, having charge, and Rev. Beamish conducted the funeral services, and notwithstanding it being a rainy day, it was one of the largest meetings for such an occasion seen in these parts, and judging by solemn faces and the floral offerings he has left a host of friends.

He’s gone, and left his weeping friends, To mourn their loss while here below,
But their loss, is his eternal gain, For he knows no more of earthly woe.
Dear parents dry those falling tears, Just think, he’s only gone before;
And soon you’ll meet y our loved and lost, And then you will never part any more.
Dear Brother of his childhood days, You’ll miss him, how, no tongue can tell.
And though your heart is faint with grief, Believe, that God doeth all things well.
And Sister dear, you’ll miss him too, For years you shared the same home nest,
But sister, think, oh think of this, Hit toils are past and he’s at rest.
To mourning friends, one and all, This word of comfort I would say,

The bright, the immortal part has flown; Then why grieve o’er the inanimate clay.
The jewel within the casket fair, Is lost to earthly weeping eyes;
But the eye of faith can look beyond, And see it bright, beyond the skies.
Oh happy thought, there is a place Where the weary ones of earth are blest;
Where the throbbing heart, and tired brain, Shall find a sweet and heavenly rest.

-Mrs. L.A. Nelson
